The Three is a name used by Praecor Loth's most loyal retainers, who took it upon themselves to prolong the illusion their master living long after his death. They appear in Ultima Underworld II.

Description[edit]

During his heroic reign over Rhiannon, Praecor Loth was accompanied in his exploits by three companions: the master spy and assassin, Morphius; the magician Umbria; and the warrior-general Lethe. After his eventual death and defeat at Fyrna, the devotion these three had for their fallen lord proved so great that they attempted to bring some vestige of him back through dark magics. Casting a perverse spell of immense power at his funeral ceremonies, the Three bound Loth's ghost to the material plane and transformed themselves into liches that they might protect him from the truth of his own demise.[1][2]

Centuries later, the Avatar would venture to the tomb where the Three stood watch, and after finally reaching the dead king, the hero would lay him at last to rest - either by revealing the reality of what had transpired to him or by slaying his ghost outright.[3]
