The function of the lenses in Ultima IX were different, but how were they different? Dungy 02:19, September 1, 2010 (UTC)

Ok, lets get right to the point:
In Ultima VI and VII, the lenses are used to view the Codex as it flows in the void and have the power to draw objects from the void and send to it. They were huge (look at VI endgame) one blue, one purple.
In Ultima IX, they merely decypher the Codex, are small (hold in one hand), not even round anymore, one blue and one red.
I think this should say it all.--Tribun 02:44, September 1, 2010 (UTC)

Nitpicks[edit]

In case there is any inclination for further dispute on this matter after the rewrite, the only discrepancy from the former trivia that is no longer covered in the article is the topic of which side each lens is "supposed" to sit in U9. As they are dependent on the positioning of the Eternal Flames, I found that nitpick overly petty and therefore omitted it.

I might also add for future reference, when adding nitpicks in Trivia sections, it is more than sufficient to simply state the facts without taking a critical tone, as was done here. We've been working for years to clean up the subjectivity and bias that used to run rampant here; it is counter-productive to reverse that progress. --Terilem 04:56, 1 September 2012 (PDT)

I agree with last part. This isn't the first time we've had to acknowledge that we all resent U9 for how out-of-sync it was, but having said that, we need to keep that resentment in check when performing edits. The previous version clearly had too much of this emotion.
I try to start off with the dogma of canonical Ultimas being infallible, then balance that towards the end of articles by being honest about indefensible inconsistencies. The Ultra-Mind 18:09, 1 September 2012 (PDT)
