In what is the name?[edit]

This article gives three names for the place, sounding authoritative. From where do these names come? Plot Cuts in Serpent Isle#Claw Isle gives yet another name.

If we have to come up with a name to fill a vacuum, maybe we should just stick to one. AngusM 04:17, June 12, 2010 (UTC)

The island is called Claw. It's on the SI map. The other names are just made up, I'm pretty sure. --Warder Dragon 11:24, June 12, 2010 (UTC)
Casting Locate in-game also supports this. --Terilem 15:05, June 12, 2010 (UTC)
Supports what? What Warder said? So we've got the name on the map, and some text arising from the casting of a spell. Could the name be anywhere else? Off-handish comments by this employee who leaked information about the place shouldn't count, since he's likely to be casual about such things.
If we can't, then how are we about removing all names except "Claw"? On the other hand... those mere four letters seems like a poor way to uniquely identify a place. I'm wondering if we should stretch this to "Claw Isle". I guess I'm on the fence about this. AngusM 02:53, June 13, 2010 (UTC)
Yes, it supports what Warder said. It's also labelled simply as "Claw" in the SI clue book. I don't object to it being referred to as Claw Isle, however, for the reasons you stated. --Terilem 03:00, June 13, 2010 (UTC)
On the other hand, enriching the name is probably not good and not necessary. If we change it to "Claw Isle", we'll have to acknowledge that that's not its proper name in the article. This would water-down the attempt for simplicity and consistency. Besides, "Claw" isn't really an Ultima keyword. If it was called something like "Halberd", "Ship", or "Ether" that could create confusion. (In which case a disambiguation page would fix it anyway) So I think "Claw" is just fine. I'll make the changes to reflect this. I'm closing the issue. AngusM 16:57, June 15, 2010 (UTC)
