I think this would fit best in the Walkthrough section.

Do you think you can also make these tables for the other games (at least VII, VI, V and IV)? If you do, a suggestion, could you put all the armour and weapon values just in two articles that are called "Armour Values" and "Weapon Values"? It's very easy to make links that go to the fitting sub-section of the article and would spare us too many articles that begin with "Ultima", since I try to avert articles beginning with it.--Tribun 18:10, 25 December 2010 (PST)

Unfortunately, I don't really have weapon date for the other games, except for Vetron's guide. The Ultima VII clue book didn't have detailed weapon and armour data. There are some Ultima VI values in the document posted on Aiera. I have an electronic copy of the Ultima VIII data and I can post that eventually. Someone who has the Ultima IX clue book would have to do that data, since even though I do own the book, tomorrow I'm leaving the country for 9 months, and I'm not taking the book with me. :P Dungy 18:21, 25 December 2010 (PST)
I actually do have the book (It's where I got the pictures for the Ultima IX armour). Ventron's Guide is good for VII and we can add the missing data from the articles themselves.--Tribun 18:25, 25 December 2010 (PST)

Armour Values of the others[edit]

I was wondering if someone has the armour values of Ultima I, II, IV, V, VI, (The weapon values were filled in) so that I can write them down here. Plus the pictures of course. --Arthgon 02:52, 4 March 2013 (PST)

Armor values for Ultima VI, the place to look would be by asking in the Nuvie forums. They could tell you for sure.
Armor defense values for Ultima IV are as follows as per armor.xml fro Xu4:
  • Skin=96
  • Cloth=128
  • Leather=144 (no mage)
  • Chain=160 (only tinker, fighter, paladin)
  • Plate=176 (only tinker, fighter, paladin)
  • Magic Chain = 192 (fighter/pladin only)
  • Magic Plate =208 (paladin only)
  • Mystic Robe=248 (all may wear)
Thank you for this. I will put this in the armour values. --Arthgon 04:34, 4 March 2013 (PST)

I left a message in the Nuvie forums for Ultima VI information. Dungy 04:57, 4 March 2013 (PST)

Thanks. --Arthgon 05:39, 4 March 2013 (PST)

Isn't the value for armor in the Ultima II Walkthrough complete?

Armour Protection Minimum Strength Space Flight
Skin 50% 1 no
Cloth Armour 56% 9 no
Leather Armour 63% 11 no
Chain Armour 69% 19 no
Plate Armour 75% 21 no
Reflect Armour 81% 29 yes
Power Armour 88% 31 yes

Can't we just use that? --Browncoat Jayson 06:18, 4 March 2013 (PST)

Also, isn't the Defense values for U3 backwards? It looks like it shows the amount of damage taken while wearing the armor, which is the inverse of the armor's protection value. It should be:
Armour Defensive Value
Skin 50%
Cloth Armour 53%
Leather Armour 56%
Chain Mail 58%
Plate Armour 60%
+2 Chain 62%
+2 Plate 64%
Exotic Armour 67%
Its ironic somehow that a "+2" armor increases its protection by 4%. =) --Browncoat Jayson 07:12, 4 March 2013 (PST)
but basically, that means that for u3, armor is pretty useless? i always figured that to be the case for u4...

I looked into Ultima I and found the armours. Still looking for their values. Also, transport: Foot --Arthgon 13:06, 4 March 2013 (PST)

If I remember correctly, Ultima I and II had the same armor, except the Vacuum Suit only existed in Ultima I and was between Plate Armour and Reflect Armour, and the Power Armour only existed in Ultima II. I've been looking, but I can't find the values either. I believe the ones the were reused have the same value, but we might need to dig into hex code to verify that. ---Browncoat Jayson 14:18, 4 March 2013 (PST)
Ah. Vacuum Suit is indeed only in Ultima I. Faulty memory. There's a lot in the .exe, and all, (Mondain, space, death (used for Character Death article), names of the spells, transport, armour (used that for the Armour values article), weapons, the princesses, Iolo steals something!) but we have to look into the hex code indeed. --Arthgon 01:24, 5 March 2013 (PST)

That should keep you busy with making images. :P Dungy 15:00, 4 March 2013 (PST)

Oh. You already filled them in. Beat me to it. It's looking good. "(and the only contributor was "Dungy")" I know. Sorry about that. Something came between, because some days ago a good friend of mine died. Yesterday, was the funeral. --Arthgon 23:49, 5 March 2013 (PST)

Ultima VII Part Two Icons[edit]

Looking at it, I see the Ultima VII icons were just pasted into the SI category. However, many actually look quite different - for example magic and plate armour. So there's a construction site to go.--Tribun 04:26, 6 March 2013 (PST)

Living Toupee?[edit]

Wait. Shouldn't that be "Living Scalp"? Perhaps making an article about it.--Arthgon 02:22, 8 March 2013 (PST)

Nope, item name is Living Toupee. And... that's what it is. It does need an article with the corresponding image, though. Dungy 03:02, 8 March 2013 (PST)
I was confused with the name in the journal of Vasculio. That said "Living Scalp". Oh. I will make an article of the Living Toupee. --Arthgon 04:07, 8 March 2013 (PST)

I have made the article. How's it looking? Are there others that need to be made? --Arthgon 05:15, 8 March 2013 (PST)

Prizes?[edit]

What about the prizes that you have to pay for these armours? Shall I make a list of the prices and all?

Here are the prices of the armours:

Ultima I:

Leather Armour 25-47 Coins
Chain Mail 50-94 Coins
Plate Mail 75-141 Coins
Vacuum Suit 100-188 Coins
Reflect Suit 125-235 Coins

Ultima II:

Cloth Armour 12-52 Gold
Leather Armour 32-136 Gold
Chain Armour 84-356 Gold
Plate Armour 220-932 Gold
Reflect Armour 576-2440 Gold
Power Armour 1508-6388 Gold

Ultima III

Cloth Armour 75 gold
Leather Armour 195 gold
Chain Mail 575 gold
Plate Armour 2500 gold

Shall I make the same lists in the Walkthroughs as in Ultima II? That means: Armour, weapons, quest-related items and transportation. --Arthgon (talk) 08:07, 18 March 2013 (PDT)

Meaning[edit]

We need little blurbs explaining the meaning behind the numbers. What does a value of 160 in Ultima IV do? What does 60% in Ultima III mean? Is it miss chance? Damage reduction? -- Fenyx4 11:02, 18 March 2013 (PDT)

Swamp Boots?[edit]

I have included the Swamp Boots in Other Armour of Ultima VII. Okay? Just like it it was done in Ultima VII Part Two.

Ultima VII Armour is now done, however is it right size?[edit]

As you can see I am ready with the Armour of Ultima VII. The only questions remains; 1) How does it look now and is it actually the right size. Or do you think that it perhaps should be 80x80? 2) Just in case, have I overlooked something?--Arthgon (talk) 20:54, 15 May 2013 (UTC)

I think the new spacing looks good, much better than the old one.--Tribun (talk) 05:28, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

Ultima VII Part Two DONE!!![edit]

I have finished cleaning and fixed the armour of Serpent Isle. IF I have missed one or two please do tell me and I will fix it. --Arthgon (talk) 09:41, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

Protection Rings?[edit]

Is the Protection Ring no longer included in Ultima VII, Ultima VII Part Two, Ultima VIII and Ultima XI?

Now that I mention it, I am actually confused about the name-giving of the rings. There is a great difference in the sprites and all, game itself and in the hintbooks. Examples:

  • Ultima V
    • Hintbooks: Ring of Protection, Ring of Invisibility;
    • Game: Protection Ring (well..Protect. Ring.)
  • Ultima VI
    • Hintbooks: Ring of Invisibility;
    • Game: Invisibility Ring.
  • Ultima VII
    • Sprites: Ring of Protection, Ring of invisibility and Ring of regeneration.

Can anyone tell me which ones to use? --Arthgon (talk) 11:39, 12 July 2013 (UTC)

Given there are in-game examples of both, I'd say to go with the naming standard that appears most frequently overall; so, that would be "Ring of ______." --Terilem (talk) 14:25, 12 July 2013 (UTC)
That means: Although it is called Protection Ring in Ultima VI, I will call it Ring of Protection here? I will change the ones in Ultima VII "Ring of ______." --Arthgon (talk) 18:15, 12 July 2013 (UTC)

Need priority[edit]

Just a heads up, according to our own tracking tools this is the 3rd most popular page of the wiki. It's hard to be certain why, but I'm thinking that most people who come here are looking for something else, therefore, this is their first impression of Ultima. For that reason, I think it should be given high priority and cleaned up.

I'd do it myself, but I'm not really an equipment values editor. Something might be done w/all this blank space, like the first table the visitor sees and all that white space on the right. The Ultra-Mind (talk) 19:42, 28 August 2015 (UTC)

Cleanup ideas borrowed from Talk:Weapon_Values#Cleanup_ideas[edit]

So continuing from Talk:Weapon_Values#Cleanup_ideas that I haven't applied yet:

  1. How should we justify the cells? In Weapon Values some are centred and others are left. And some switch it up in the same table. That might make the most sense, although, it may not apply here just yet, since this article is much simpler right now.
  2. The unevenness of all these tables looks pretty bad, but I'm not sure what to do about that. Maybe centring them would improve that?
  3. There should be some distinction about unavailable data. Right now that usually is an empty cell in a table, but sometimes that is also used for no data. Those no data cells are usually filled w/'--'s so I think that should be applied consistently. I can't tell which cells need changed at the moment.
  4. Once we are straighted out on the proper/common noun issue we need to apply it here.
  5. There's some unevenness w/the subheadings. All the game names are in level 2 headings, but none use level 3 and 4 heading. In U9 subheadings w/a semi-colon (in the source). Not sure which is the best way to go here.
  6. There's also a bit of a quirk in U9 where the last column seems to have merged notes w/names for the last column. 'Definitely need some attention, but attention is all I know how to give it right now: no idea for fixes.

My latest overhaul[edit]

As was done with weapon values I've overhauled this article now. I've increased the consistency, but as you can see, it didn't go as high as 100%. I used my judgement on a case-by-case basis. And here are some notes of snags I ran into:

  1. U6: do leather boots really have defence of 0? Doesn't that make them useless?
  2. U7: "Prevents", "no" and "immune". Several types of armour seems to defend against certain problems, but such as a caddelite helm, swamp boots and ethereal ring. But is their defence 100%? Do some have defensive ratings bellow that? In other words, do these words mean that they stop a threat dead or they mitigate the impact of it?
  3. U8: a shield was called "buckler" and came with a round shield icon while a shield called "round shield" had an icon w/"flat shield" in its name. I assumed the correct thing to do was renamed "round shield" to "heater" but that was just a guess.
