Sir William Lett is deceased master of the final two-handed weapon technique in Ultima IX.

Description[edit]

After learning everything that could be learned about two-handed weapons from Duncan on Janus Island, the Avatar asked where to learn the final technique to that weapon class. Sadly, Duncan had to tell the Avatar that the master of the technique, Sir William Lett, had already passed away, thus taking his secret to the grave. Even the location of his tomb was unknown.

However, when later looking through the graveyard of Cove, the Avatar found a map showing that there was something hidden in the ocean west of Yew. Once being able to command a ship, the Avatar and Raven set out to investigate and found a strange wooden platform in the middle of the ocean. Diving to the bottom, the Avatar found the tomb of Sir William Lett on the ocean floor. In his coffin, his manual for the final technique, the throw and return, was found.

Trivia[edit]

  • The tomb is found at 1° 23' north, 52° 3' west. One has to dive on deep water, which means instant death unless using air bubbles path for underwater breathing; the challenge here is to use three different bubble paths and two quick transitions must be made. If timing is not done right it means certain death by drowning.
  • At times, getting back to the ship is bugged (entering the ship, the Avatar still acts as if under water). In this case, a quick move must be made in order to prevent drowning.
  • The book is somehow ineffective if the Avatar removes it. The tome must be on the floor when reading it to learn the technique.
