Sindar on the NES

Sindar is the member of the Great Council representing Trinsic in Ultima V.

Description[edit]

Unlike other members of the council, Sindar didn't go into hiding. Instead, he was in a permanent sleep state, the cause for which is unknown.

The Avatar however was presented with the unique problem of how to get the Word of Power from a slumbering Sindar. Upon hearing a rumour about a sleepwalker, pacing the city walls at night, the Avatar found Sindar walking around in his sleep after dark.[1] In this state, it was possible to talk to him, and he revealed the Word of Power for the dungeon Shame.[2]

Ultima V: Lazarus[edit]

This is an Ultima V: Lazarus-related article or section. The information within may not apply to Ultima V or other Ultima games.

In Ultima V: Lazarus, Sindar could be found during the day sleeping at the Wounds of Honor, but after midnight would sleepwalk the streets of Trinsic. In his slumber, Sindar mumbled about his previous job serving on the Great Council, and if the Avatar talked through his dream after first speaking with his daytime carers, the hero could ascertain the Word of Power for the dungeon Shame.[3]

Trivia[edit]

  • In Ultima V for the NES, Sindar is a gluttonous guard rather than a sleepwalking old mage, and freely provides the Avatar with Shame's Word of Power without interrupting his meal.
