Silverpate was a pirate who plundered the seas of Serpent Isle as captain of the Black Gull. He was mentioned in Ultima VII Part Two.

Description

After his retirement from the pirating life, Silverpate built the Inn of the Sleeping Bull. He used a part of his treasure for the building, while hiding the rest of it in the frozen Ice Plains. He also hired a mage (reportedly Erstam) to do something to the inn, but no one knows what. Silverpate vanished after this was done. According to the mages of Moonshade, Silverpate planned to trick Erstam so he wouldn't have to pay the mage's fee, but Erstam caught him red-handed and trapped him in a pit of daemons; hence why Silverpate was never seen again. That Silverpate's Serpent Jawbone landed in Erstam's hands supports this version of events.

Silverpate's own journal, found within his hidden treasure, shows a severe dislike of Erstam and Silverpate starting to conspire to get rid of the mage he hated so much.

Trivia

• Silverpate possessed a Serpent Jawbone and mapped the Dark Path, feeling it put him on equal footing to Erstam. That Jawbone was taken by Erstam after getting rid of Silverpate.
• Angus' grandfather was Silverpate.
