The magic shrines of Ambrosia (also known as the Shrines of Truth, the Shrines of Knowledge and the Shrines of Strength) are ancient holy sites located on the lost continent of Ambrosia in Ultima III.

Description

There were four shrines to be found in the strange realm of Ambrosia, dedicated to the attributes of Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence and Wisdom. Developed by the long dead ancient race of the island-kingdom, these places were imbued with the power to change the physical being of those who prayed at them with appropriate tribute in hand. For an offering of one hundred gold coins, an individual could raise his skills in the area the shrine represented by one measure.

During the Stranger's quest against the hellspawn, Exodus, the hero and companions could learn of these sacred locations from the people of Moon or from the prophet Radrion. In the shrines, in addition to finding a means to hone their abilities in preparation for their battle against the daemon-machine, the four heroes would also discover the Four Cards necessary to enact Exodus' destruction.

Trivia

• Though they share a similar name, there is no relation between the Shrine of Truth on the Isle of Fire, and the fact that these shrines are also known as Shrines of Truth.
