Transcript: Shirita

Shirita is the caretaker of the graves, living in New Magincia during the events of Ultima V.

Description[edit]

When the Avatar met her, the old woman told the story of how old Magincia had been destroyed by horrible daemons for all of its Pride and hubris, and how after years they'd finally managed to put the tortured souls of the inhabitants back to rest. Shirita then curiously asked the Avatar if the the hero was trying to walk on a humble path. If the Avatar said yes, Shirita suggested talking to Wartow, as he was most knowledgeable about Humility.[1]

Ultima V: Lazarus[edit]

This is an Ultima V: Lazarus-related article or section. The information within may not apply to Ultima V or other Ultima games.

In Ultima V: Lazarus, Shirita told the hero she was responsible for tending the graveyard in New Magincia, and with helping Wartow bury the dead when the need arose. Her job was important, for it kept the ghosts of Magincia at rest, so that the new community could thrive. Magincia had been a great trading city, and had become the envy of Britannia, but it had been destroyed for the sin of Pride, when daemons crawled out of the very earth itself to lay the city low. The former inhabitants had haunted the site of their once great town for many years to warn all who dared visit about the danger of Pride, but finally the ghosts had been laid to rest, and when Shirita arrived on the island there had been nothing but rubble left. Shirita recommended the hero speak to Wartow if truly interested in learning more about the Virtue of Humility.[2]

She was saddened by the recent loss of her husband Kaid, whom she had laid to rest in the same graveyard that previous winter.
