Shimoka is a barmaid at The Humble Palate in New Magincia in Ultima V: Lazarus.

Shimoka told the Avatar that she worked along with at The Humble Palate, serving the number of visitors, although, she hoped to someday become a chef. The barmaid remarked that her boss Felicity was an excellent teacher in the kitchen, but sister Kintara disliked it, and frequently burned her dishes. She spoke highly of Genne and Felicity, the owners of The Humble Palate, saying they she had used to work for them in Trinsic, but the changing political climate had made Genne unhappy, so they had moved to the more relaxed atmosphere of New Magincia.[1]

When asked about her sister Kintara, Shimoka commented that she had recently become infatuated with the modestly handsome adventurer Lewis, but she felt the man was nothing but a braggart and imbecile. She had talked to her sister about this, but Kintara had not heeded her words, and Shimoka felt Katrina the shepherdess had been of no assistance either, merely telling her to do what she felt was best. Shimoka would plead with the hero to speak with her sister to try to talk her out of her infatuation with the handsome adventurer. Should the Avatar reveal to Kintara that Lewis was not truly in love with her[2][3], Shimoka was pleased with the improvement in the relationship with her sister, and would reveal to the Avatar that Kintara had recently taken to early morning walks around the island, for reasons Shimoka could not understand despite trailing her sister.

If the Avatar recovered 'Usami's Journal' from the swamps to the east of New Magincia, Shimoka would discover the tale of how Usami had lost his wife Valencia during childbirth, and how he had been forced to give away his daughters Shimoka and Kintara in Trinsic, where Genne and Felicity later adopted them as their own.
