Description: shopowner of Darkwatch Armoury

Shenstone, is the proprietor at the Darkwatch Armoury in Minoc during the events of Ultima V.

Description[edit]

Shenstone himself had little to say. However, after the Avatar continually gave coins to Delwyn, the beggar hinted that Shenstone was up to something near noon.[1] Watching him at that time, the Avatar saw Shenstone left the armoury at noon and buried something at the base of a tree at the northwest corner of town. Searching the area after he had left, the Avatar obtained the skull keys which were essential for accessing magically locked rooms.

Shenstone never noticed the keys had gone missing; always hiding new keys in the tree each day.

Ultima V: Lazarus[edit]

In Ultima V: Lazarus, Shenstone was quick to praise the craftsmanship at the Darkwatch Armoury,[2] and if Julia were in the party, she would agree that she had made good business there over the years.[3] Shenstone also highly praised his new apprentice Tactus,[4] saying the young man performed admirably. He felt the best part of the apprentice was he had already gained experience in Yew with Chamfort at the Arms of Justice, so could begin working right away, and hoped to some day will his business to Tactus.

Shenstone noted that the smaller mines were unable to supply the metal ore needs of Britannia, and the smiths had longed hoped to reopen the great dungeons to meet this need, but Lord British and the Great Council had declined this request. Blackthorn, on the other hand, planned to reopen the dungeons soon so ore would once again be easily available. Shenstone hoped to reopen Covetous, the closest mine to Minoc, believing it to be a prime source of ore and gems, and felt that opening a hole in the ground posed no dangers to Britannia with the land already swarming with monsters.

Shenstone denied Delwyn’s rumors of supplying manacles for Captain Blythe,[5] saying the beggar merely liked to spread lies and had poor work ethic.
