Transcript: Saul

Saul is the visitor of the injured Kindor during the events of Ultima V.

Description[edit]

The Avatar met Saul at the healer's of Skara Brae, watching over his injured friend Kindor. Saul told the Avatar how an encounter with the Shadowlords during the takeover of Skara Brae had given Kindor his injuries. He added that Kinder had information about the Shrine of Spirituality and could be spoken with at 6 PM.[1]

Saul was knowledgeable about reagents and told the Avatar that mandrake root could be found on the Bloody Plains and the Fens of the Dead, while nightshade was to be found in the most densely forested Spiritwood. He warned to only harvest these reagents at midnight.

Ultima V: Lazarus[edit]

A soft spoken ranger, Saul had been spending his days in Skara Brae visiting his friend Kindor, who was recovering from wounds received by a Shadowlord. Saul had encountered his grievously wounded compatriot while traveling through Spiritwood, and had done his best to nurse his companion before bringing him to Temptious at The Spirit Healers to recover. Since that time, Saul had wandered from the island, and was disappointed that his friend had healed little upon his return. The ranger cursed himself as a fool for discarding the arrow which had pierced his friend, for Temptious told him if it had been poisoned, identifying the toxin would have assisted in the healing process.[2]

Saul felt the life of a ranger, constantly travelling from one corner of Britannia to the other was ideal, for there was too much of the world to see to be bogged down in one place or another. When Kindor had sufficiently recovered, Saul hoped to adventure out with his companion once again in search of the Shrine of Spirituality.

After talking to Kindor,[3] Saul would reveal that he knew the arrow which poisoned his friend had come from a Shadowlord, but had purposely withheld that information so that none would know that Kindor had fought against the Oppression. With Flain in Skara Brae, and Lord Blackthorn actively seeking the mantra of Spirituality, Saul thought it wise to hide his friend's identity, for fear it they would try to forcefully obtain the mantra from Kindor. Saul admitted to also obtaining information about the Shrines from Glinkie in Paws.[4]

If the Avatar returned the Crystal Tear for Malik, the young boy would inform the hero that Saul knew where to find mandrake root and nightshade.[5] Saul would tell the hero to look on the Bloody Plains and the Fens of the Dead for mandrake root, while nightshade could be found in Spiritwood.
