Rhian is a weaver living in Tenebrae. She appears in Ultima VIII.
Description[edit]
The Avatar first encountered Rhian at the execution of her husband, Toran, who was beheaded by Mordea's regime for speaking against the state. The newly widowed women could later be found at her late spouse's gem shop, where she would speak to the hero as to her grief, warning them to hold their tongue in with regard to the Tempest.
Later, the Avatar met her son, Torwin, who had journeyed to Argentrock Isle to become a theurgist in the desperate hope that he could thereby discover a means of resurrecting his father. When the hero told him that Toran's body had been given over to the Lurker and was beyond recovery, the brash youth leapt off a nearby cliff in the hopes of reaching his patron Titan, only to die in the ocean below. The Avatar would later have the opportunity to tell Rhian of her son's death, and could give her a ring he had dropped before his fall that she might have something by which to remember him.[1]

Trivia[edit]
- Apart from outright finding money, in the world or through battle, Rhian is the only other source of money in the game, as she is the only vendor who not only sells but also buys items.
