Randolas is a powerful daemon used by Tydus to guard his Heartstone in Ultima IX.
Description[edit]
The Avatar met the daemon after Tydus sent him to a cave north of Moonglow in search of the fictional staff of wisdom. Randolas had been bound by Tydus to guard his Heartstone, and Tydus had hoped the daemon would kill the Avatar upon entering the daemon's lair. Instead of attacking, the creature struck a deal with the hero, letting the Avatar take the stone in exchange for his freedom from Tydus. If the Avatar agreed to this deal, he could take the Heartstone unharmed.[1]
Trivia[edit]
- In the Dialogue Patch for Ultima IX, this character was renamed Arcadion. In the new dialogue, he mentions explicitly his previous encounters with the Avatar in Ultima 7 and Ultima 7.2. The encounter in Ultima 8 could be inferred, but it is unclear.
