Panpipes in U6P

A panpipe is a small instrument held against the lips and blown into. The individual pipes are arranged according to their chromatic pitch, from which melodies can be produced by skillful breathing. They appear in Ultima VI, Ultima VII, Ultima VII Part Two and Runes of Virtue.

History[edit]

Age of Enlightenment[edit]

During the Gargoyle war, the Avatar had to play "Stones" as taught by Gwenno to Selganor on a set of panpipes in order to become a member of the Artisan's Guild and receive the rune of Sacrifice. In this case, the instrument was required to be custom-made from a freshly cut yew log purchased from Ben, which was subsequently sawed by Aaron and finally crafted into the pipes themselves by Julia.

Age of Armageddon[edit]

In Britannia and on the Serpent Isle, panpipes were a common music instrument and could be found often. It was also noted that Garritt, the son of Feridwyn and Brita in Paws was especially good with the panpipes, although Tobias told a different story and that Garritt was horrible at it.

Runes of Virtue[edit]

In Runes of Virtue a set of magical panpipes could be found within the Cavern of Injustice. They had the power to freeze all monsters temporarily.
