Mysteries of the Red Planet
The book Mysteries of the Red Planet comes with Martian Dreams. It is 24 pages long. In-game, Dr. Spector has written the book. In real-life, Warren Spector has written the book. That Warren Spector's alter ego has written the book is quite amusing. Nikola Tesla asks questions about the book for the copy protection.
Description[edit]
The book is written from Dr. Spector's perspective and is held in a rather scientific language, containing large amounts of useful information on Mars of the 1890s and how it differs from present-day Mars. Spector does not hide his fascination with the red planet and the strange wonders it contains, giving detailed reports on everything of importance. Reading the book is pretty much essential to understanding what is going on and not dying horribly early on, due to the survival tips given in it.

Other Editions[edit]
The book got a cover on simple plain-white paper when the game was re-released by GT Interactive, but stays the same content-wise. The book also was faithfully translated for the Korean and Chinese (Taiwan) versions of the game. At least the Korean edition combined the two manual books together.
