Murray (also known as "Papa") is a nudist hermit living in a cave of giant bees with his wife Myrtle during Ultima VII.
[edit] Description
Previously a Yewish apothecary, Murray fled from civilized society after coming under investigation by the Britannian Tax Council, unable to pay the fines levied at him. Taking up residence in the company of giant bees in the eastern Deep Forests, he and Myrtle took on a life of voluntary simplicity, eating mice and harvesting honey from their apian neighbors as they dwelt in naked contentment.[1]
Should the Avatar encounter the pair, the couple would make a show of having lived their whole lives outside of society, leading Iolo, if present, to conclude that they might be siblings. While Tseramed, a local woodsman would insist that the two were originally from the Yewish area, the presence of the forester would cause them to become hostile, as he was an avid hunter of the bees that they considered friends. Eventually, if pressed about his origins, Murray would drop his facade, explaining his flight from civilization and his contentment with his new life.[1][2]
[edit] Trivia
- If Spark, is present in the party, he will comment with disgust at Murray's dietary habits.[1]
- Murray will exclaim that he and "Mama" "make zug-zug." This term for sexual intercourse is taken from the 1981 comedy film Caveman.[3]
