Maxwell is a fighter found in Serpent's Hold during the events of Ultima V.
Description[edit]
Practicing skill at arms and Courage at the keep, Maxwell told the Avatar how his teacher Monsieur Loubet had been telling him about the hero's quest to rescue Lord British from the Underworld, and offered to join.[1]
Ultima V: Lazarus[edit]

In Ultima V: Lazarus, Maxwell told the hero that he was not yet a Knight of the Order of the Silver Serpent, but he hoped to someday prove himself worthy of such an honour. He swore that the Knights were the paradigm of Courage, and he would protect Serpent's Hold and his sister Kristi, readying himself for the day that Blackthorn’s men would attack.[2]
Maxwell despised Blackthorn’s regime, saying the tyrant corrupted and twisted virtue, and had been the death of many of his friends, and even his brother Angus, who perished trying to break Blackthorn's blockade of Serpent's Hold. He was furious how Lord Malone had suffered under the Oppression,[3] and was determined to uphold Courage to its utmost. When asked about his training, the young warrior mentioned that Monsieur Loubet was the greatest trainer he had ever met, and had taught him much about swordplay. Despite this, Maxwell still felt most comfortable wielding an axe.
Strategy[edit]
Because of his low starting Health Points, Maxwell is often seen as a weak companion.
On the other hand, Maxwell has the same Strength and Dexterity as Gorn and Julia, moreover he has a low starting Level (1), therefore he has the potential for a better and faster growth than Gorn or Julia.
If equipped with a ranged weapon or a polearm bludgeon, Maxwell can attack from the back row until his Health Points will be high enough to be moved to the front line.
