Max Engel is the blacksmith of the North Star Armoury in Castle Britannia in Ultima V.
Ultima V: Lazarus[edit]
This is an Ultima V: Lazarus-related article or section. The information within may not apply to Ultima V or other Ultima games.
In Ultima V: Lazarus, Max was clearly proud of his work at the forge, and gladly told the Avatar about his job supplying the castle with weapons and other supplies. Max missed his liege Lord British, and hoped the king would soon return, although, he felt the people who looked after the castle in his absence were excellent.[1]
Max Engel felt that Alistair was a talented bard whom used to do an excellent job raising the castle's spirits, although he was recently depressed, and Max felt that Chuckles' pranks did little to help. Max praised Treanna's ability to handle the stables at such a young age, and thought of Biggs as a good man and a good steward, although slightly haughty. The smith had nothing good to say about Stillwelt the guard, and could not understand what Lord British saw in Chuckles' humor.
