Maldric is the cook of Castle Britannia in Ultima VI.

Instantly recognizing the Avatar from the hero's portrait, Maldric was thrilled to meet his longtime idol. Maldric told the Avatar how he had once been a boar hunter near Yew, but had given up that past life when Lord British offered him a position as his cook after tasting his wild boar stew. Missing his past life, and the quiet times by the fire at home, the cook mentioned that his new role fulfilled him and that he enjoyed preparing meals for his liege.
Should the Avatar be female, Maldric would make quite clear his romantic interests towards the hero, but would be too shy to act upon them.[1]
The Ultima 6 Project[edit]

In The Ultima 6 Project, Maldric boasted about his recipe for roasted boar and its secret ingredient. He was unwilling to tell the Avatar what it was, but promised he'd disclose the full recipe if the Avatar discovered the secret. After the Avatar gained possession of some silverleaf from the Fuzzies (the future Emps), Maldric accidentally affirmed this was indeed the secret ingredient. A man of his word, Maldric revealed the full recipe.
