Ultima Underworld II
Location: Tomb of Praecor Loth

Lord Umbria is a liche, who in life served as Praecor Loth's court magician. He and the other members of Loth's Company of Three appear in Ultima Underworld II.

Description[edit]

Lord Umbria was one of Loth's three most esteemed retainers, and he saw his liege as exemplary of what was best in the spirit of mankind. In the wake of his master's death at Fyrna, Umbria called upon dark magicks to bind the souls of Loth and his company to the material plane, conspiring with Morphius and Lethe to create the illusion that their king still lived.

Should the Avatar pass through his chambers en route to Loth's resting place, Umbria would warn the hero to leave him and his lord to their imitation of life, and would be willing to resort to lethal force to that end.[1]

Lore[edit]

The Three.png
When I finally reached the uppermost floor, I saw to my horror that Helena's warnings held true — the Company of Three are undead. I spoke with each of them briefly, and inspected the modifications they had made to their resting-chambers.

Lord Umbria had performed even more extensive modifications. He had won several of my golems to his command, and they had built for him a great chamber with pillars rising from the water. He showed me how I might pass on to Lethe.

Trivia[edit]

  • "Umbria" is a Latin word meaning "shadows" or "ghosts."
  • Should the Avatar speak of being on a quest on behalf of Britannia, Umbria will recognize the name, and will recall having met with Mondain and Minax during the world's Age of Darkness (although technically the land would have been called Sosaria at that point in time).[1]
