Green Beard is a pirate captain with a striking green beard living in Buccaneer's Den during Ultima IV.

The tall sailor had recently docked at Buccaneer's Den when the Stranger visited the town. This bizarrely pigmented man could be found at Limpy's armoury, where he was buying equipment for his crew. He was trying to find magical armour if possible, and would ask if the Stranger knew where to buy Mystic Armour, seemingly unaware of the Avatar-related requirements needed to wear it. The hero could tell the pirate that such an artifact was for sale "no where".[1]
Trivia[edit]
- In the Nintendo remake of Ultima IV (Japanese original), Green Beard can be identified with the fighter in the same location. This character was removed in the English localization.
- It is unknown whether this pirate's beard is simply dyed or the color has another origin. Hair has been observed turning green in cases where an animal is exposed to high levels of copper layers in their food or drink, although this green-grayish effect fades once the individual is no longer ingesting such metals.[2]
