On the graveyard

The big graveyard west of Empath Abbey is the main graveyard for the mainland of Britannia and appears in Ultima VI and Ultima VII.

Description[edit]

Most of the people from the mainland cities and countryside are buried there. Unlike other graveyards, it is not disturbed by ghosts or skeletons, and therefore very safe. This also is because it is actively maintained by the local undertaker, who keeps such undesirable things away from the place. Therefore it is a perfect (and safe) place to honor the dead. The graveyard was founded in the time before the Gargoyle War, and had logically expanded since then.

Notable Graves[edit]

Some graves of note:

  • The grave of Reyna’s unnamed mother (even on the tombstone)
  • The grave of Lady M.

Lore[edit]

The Abbey is a popular place to be buried, by the way, with the largest cemetary [sic] I know of. I’ve already made out a will specifying that I wish to be buried there — in a cask of their finest red wine!
Many travellers to Empath Abbey come to visit the graves of loved ones at the nearby graveyard.
Tiery, of course, must live near the cemetery, for he is the undertaker. I fear we may not have spent as much time with him as we should have, for he seems more interested in speaking with the graves in his keeping than with us.

Trivia[edit]

  • In Ultima VI, Mole was the undertaker. In Ultima VII, it was Tiery.
  • The graveyard has no crypts.
