Golaia at twilight

Description[edit]

Golaia is an island found in Hiroyuki Watanabe's 1990 Ultima-inspired manga, Ultima: The Fall of Magincia. It is located somewhere in the vicinity of Buccaneer's Den, and is home to an idyllic village of fishermen and pirates.

This location is central to the comic, as the narrative focuses on the adventures of the Golaian pirates, lead by the haughty Susadora. In the course of the story, Golaia eventually comes under attack by the forces of Vitor, who massacre the populace and raze the settlement, leaving the isle void of human life. It is in reaction to this assault that Susadora leads the pirates of Buccaneer's Den against Magincia, eventually triggering the events that destroy the proud merchant city.

It is not known if Golaia survived the cataclysm which ended the manga, as there is no sequel to the work and the comic clearly exists outside of Ultimas eventual continuity.
