The Eloemosynator is a Talorid whose function is hard to describe to human beings. It appears in Ultima Underworld II.

Description

The Eloemosynator would do its best describe its function when asked, talking about complex patterns which arise from primordial chaos and how those observing these patterns become incorporated into them. Should the Avatar express confusion at this explanation, the Eloemosynator would simply state that chaos was a natural state not preferable to order, insinuating that it saw no problem with the hero's befuddlement.

The Avatar would be able to ask others about Eloemosynator's function, although nobody would be able to adequately explain it. Historian would reveal that Eloemosynator was among the most ancient and esteemed functions which a Talorid could perform, but would not elaborate on this. The Dialogicians would mention that they could facilitate communication with Eloemosynator, although they would refuse to do so. If approached, the Vorz Ductosnore would inquire about the Avatar's interest in the function, but like the others it would fail to describe it.

Trivia

• Eloemosynator's name appears to be derived from the word eleemosynary, which describes acts of charity or alms-giving. Dr. Cat, however, indicates that this lexical similarity was not meant to offer any clues as to Eloemosynator's function.
• The Futurian has a small cache in its chambers designated for the Eloemosynator's use. It consists of several resilient spheres and a data crystal.
