An eclipse occurs when a moon comes between the sun and the planet it orbits, reducing the amount of sunlight experienced by the planet for a few minutes.

When one or both of the moons of Britannia, Trammel or Felucca, move in front of the sun certain regions in the moons' shadow are as dark as the night, as their shadow is being cast onto the planet. Thankfully, such an event is generally harmless, apart from a brief confusion. An eclipse could happen naturally in Ultima VI, or could be artificially induced by using the spell Eclipse. Note however that this has little effect on gameplay. Schedules continue as normal and the only thing that does happen is, that the line of sight of monsters is reduced.
