Transcript: Eb

Eb is the busboy at the Wayfarer's Inn in Britain during the events of Ultima V.

Description[edit]

Eb was very busy when the Avatar tried to talk with him. He complained about customers who left behind messes and that he had to clean it up. It took the Avatar several times before coming to the point. After having heard hints from Justin in the kitchen, the Avatar asked Eb about glassware.[1]

If the Avatar admitted to never having broken a glass, Eb asked if the Avatar admired good glasswork. Saying yes, Eb told the hero that Malik in Moonglow knew someone who had made glass swords.

A young boy of eleven, Eb told the Avatar that he worked long hours at the Wayfarer's Tavern cleaning up after the messy customers because he needed the money, which he was saving to buy a horse. Eb further mentioned that he and his father, Antos had moved to Britain some years ago, although he was unsure of the details. He was friends with his coworkers Donya, Justin, Tika, and Telila, speaking highly of the four, saying he had few friends since Malik and his mother Malifora had moved to Moonglow a year ago. Finally, he asked the Avatar if the hero admired fine glasswork, and if so to seek out Malik and ask him about it.[2]

The Ultima 6 Project[edit]

In The Ultima 6 Project, a tombstone in Britain reads, "Eb was a clever bus-boy - He played with Antos' toys - He threw them around - And when they came down - They killed him with nary a noise." suggesting he did not enjoy toys from Antos too much.
