Cows are female bovines who comprise the majority of cattle raised domestically for beef, leather, cheese and milk in Britannia and on Earth. They appear in Ultima IV, Ultima VII and Ultima VII Part Two.
Description[edit]
Unlike bulls, Britannian cows were generally docile and easy to handle and could long be found throughout the realm in rural areas well suited to animal husbandry. For reasons never made clear, this common livestock animal seemingly disappeared late in the Age of Armageddon, possibly having succumbed to contagion, alongside horses.

Trivia[edit]
- Double-clicking on a cow in Ultima VII causes the whole party to moo.
- In Ultima VII and Ultima VII Part Two, one can kill cows to get 5 units of beef from each cow. In Britannia, the best places to do so are next to the slaughterhouse in Paws and the fenced-off area of the stables in Britain. There actually is no penalty for doing so and it saves money on food.
- In the C64-port of Ultima VI, there were no horse sprites and Smith the Horse uses a cow sprite and it's claimed he disguised himself as a cow to escape hungry people.
