Brita is one of the operators of the Fellowship homeless shelter in Paws in Ultima VII. She runs the shelter with the aide of her husband, Feridwyn, with whom she has a single son, Garritt.

Description[edit]

Brita could come across as a stern and judgemental woman, although her aims in assisting the poor appeared to be pure in spite of her Fellowship methodology. She was prone to gossip cruelly about the local populace, disparaging Alina as a simpleton and speaking bitterly about "traditionalists" such as Camile and Tobias.[1]

In spite of this, she seemed to have a genuine and mutually respectful relationship with her husband, and proved a doting mother to Garritt – unfortunately to the point where she appeared unwilling to confront her child's prejudicial behavior and drug abuse.[2] Dwelling almost entirely on her son's gifts of musicality, she was blind to the fact the boy looked down upon her as subservient to Feridwyn, and that he thought little of those whom the shelter tended.[3] If the Avatar uncovered Garritt's use of silver serpent venom, Brita would initially refuse to believe the hero's accusations, and would only come to recognize them as true once the boy himself confessed.[4]

Eventually, the Paws shelter was closed following the disbandment of the Fellowship and the beginning of the Reconstruction. While Brita and Feridwyn were ignorant of the sinister designs of their parent organization, the dismantling of the society took its toll on them, and they struggled to regain the funds necessary to reopen the home for the poor, still striving, in their own way to do good in the world.[5]

Lore[edit]

Feridwyn and his wife have set up a shelter for those without a home, but it is sponsored by The Fellowship, so not everyone is willing to accept its hospitality. As a matter of fact, Komor, Fenn and Merrick were once good friends until Merrick "turned coat," as they claim, and moved into the shelter.
