Ascanio is the innkeeper at The Bay Inn in Minoc in Ultima V: Lazarus.

The busy innkeeper told the hero that trade was important in Minoc, and people from throughout Britannia lodged at his inn while doing business with the local artisans. Ascanio noted that many of these businessmen were very demanding of his inn, often with unusual requests. Still, he loved his job and the city, and told the hero he soon became homesick when he left.[1]

Ascanio talked about Fiona and the poorhouse, saying how he felt it good to have an institution devoted to helping the poor and needy of Britannia, but that previously many people who had the the coin to stay at his inn had taken advantage of Fiona's good nature. The innkeeper professed that he merely wished those with means to support themselves not take up beds from the truly needy when he had approached Blackthorn, asking him to discuss the matter with Fiona.

Ascanio highly praised Lyvias craftsmanship, telling the hero to trust her with all fragile metalwork. He also thought Woodroffe was a brilliant glassblower, and couldn't understand why the man refused to fix his glass bowl despite being offered a good price.
