Andre the French Chef is a chef who can be found within Lord British’s private kitchen within Castle Britannia on Earth in 1423 B.C. and 1990 A.D. in Ultima II.
Description[edit]
It is unknown how this seemingly ordinary drunken chef was capable to follow Lord British's Castle during its 3400-years time travel, but despite the ravages of time, he happily told the Stranger: "I drink, therefore I am" in 1423 B.C., and then was willing to offer the hero "colduck" in 1990 A.D.[1]
Trivia[edit]
- In Ultima IV, Lord British still appears to keep a French chef in his castle's employ, although this individual gives his name only as "Le Chef."
- In Ultima V, the castle Chef, Justin, briefly mentions that he received his recipe for mutton a la Britanny from a chef named “Andre” of West Brittany.[2] In West Brittany there is a gravestone with Andre's name, indicating that he died of salmonella.[3]
