Aleyn is an imprisoned child in Yew.

Shortly before Ultima V, his father Mario had neglected to inform the authorities that he could only give 40% of his earnings to charity (50% being the law). They tortured him cruelly before putting him in stocks on the town square together with Aleyn, whose crime was not turning in his father, leaving them to die from starvation.[1]
When the Avatar found him, Aleyn was already so weak, that he was in serious danger of dying. The Avatar could choose to jimmy Aleyn's locks and allow him to escape the city.

In Ultima V: Lazarus, the Avatar can choose to free Aleyn by paying his and his father's fine of 2010gp to Judge Dryden.[2]
